The three bedrooms of Red Cedar Retreat are spread out over the two levels of the home and the sleeper sofas in the living room and game room ensure that when the moon rises over the Virginia landscape, everyone will have their own space to retreat to. A King suite with an ensuite bath on the main level, offering a comfortable place to sleep without having to navigate too many stairs, but there are still 4-6 stairs needed to use (depending on which entrance you use). Parents can join in the fun by testing their daredevil skills on slides that climb 250 feet in the air or they can splash and play with their littles in the 12-inch deep Frog Pond that offers tyke-sized slides, sprinklers, and swings. A brass canopy surrounds the king bed topped with crisp white bedding and sea blue throw pillows, and an antique armoire and dresser lend historic charm to the bright and airy space. A teal velvet topped settee sits against a wall of windows covered with shades you can pull down for privacy and cheerful blue and white curtains. This spacious room provides an ensuite bath that includes a period-appropriate claw foot tub and a porcelain pedestal sink that sits atop another antique bureau. The claw foot tub comes with its own wood tray, perfect for holding a book, tablet, candle, and glass of wine, in case you are interested in a quiet and peaceful adventure.
A full laundry room on this level always comes in handy for traveling families and ends the tour of the first floor. Wood stairs lead the way to the private spaces of River Mill House and an open loft air with original hardwood floors upon which sits a beautiful wood armoire.
